Letter from the Co-Presidents Dawn Chu & Joyce Yee Happy New Year! With the start of the New Year, we are looking forward to providing you information on how best to help your student(s) succeed in our schools. We encourage you to fully participate in your students education by attending our parent seminars, our meeting with the superintendents of both CUSD and FUHSD and our monthly board meetings. By attending all or some of these meetings, you will learn how to enable your student to reach his/her maximum potential. On March 5, we will be having our annual Lunar Lunch where the keynote speaker, Dr. George Leong of Stanford University, will be giving us a talk on Diversity and Growing Up Asian American. In addition, we will be awarding scholarships to deserving Asian students who are joining the teaching profession; past recipients have been hired by both CUSD and FUHSD and are now teaching our students! Our luncheon will be at the Beausejour Restaurant in Los Altos and promises to be a delicious and enjoyable afternoon. As you may know, the SAT exam, that is one standard by which our students will be evaluated, has been completely revised this year. To ensure that parents and students are aware of these changes and their impact, AAPA held a seminar in February. In addition, we will be hosting our yearly Road to College seminar on March 19. This seminar is conducted by district career counselor, Vickie Kleinman, and informs parents on how best to prepare their student(s) as they make the difficult decisions on how and where to apply for colleges. It has been very well attended in past years; please plan on joining us for this standing room only seminar. These are just a few highlights of our upcoming events. We encourage you to be an active and contributing member of AAPA. By doing so, you will be helping all of our students succeed! Should you have any questions about any of the above events or our mission, do not hesitate to contact either of us: Dawn Chu by email at dawn_chu@yahoo.com or Joyce Yee at joyce_yee@yahoo.com. Sincerely,
